Fire Damage Board Up & Repair In South Carolina

At Willard's Restoration, our 24/7 emergency response team is always ready to assist you immediately after a fire. We offer expert board-up and tarping services to secure your property and prevent further damage.

By quickly boarding up damaged windows, doors, and installing tarps over exposed areas, we protect your home or business from weather elements, vandalism, and other potential threats until repairs can begin.

Types of Fire Damage

Smoke Damage

Smoke damage occurs when smoke particles settle onto surfaces, leaving behind a layer of soot and odors. It can stain walls, furniture, and fabrics, and prolonged exposure can make cleaning more difficult and cause respiratory issues.

Structural Damage

Structural damage happens when the heat from a fire weakens or destroys key elements of a building's structure, such as walls, ceilings, and support beams. This type of damage can compromise the safety and stability of the property and requires careful assessment and repair.

Water Damage

Water damage results from firefighting efforts, such as the use of hoses or sprinkler systems, to extinguish the flames. While critical for stopping the fire, the water can soak into materials, leading to issues like mold growth, warping, and further deterioration of building materials.

Our process

Our Fire Damage Repair Process

Recovering from fire damage requires a systematic approach to ensure thorough restoration and repair. Here’s our process that covers every phase of fire damage repair:

  1. 01

    Emergency Response & Inspection

Our team arrives promptly to assess the extent of the fire damage. We perform a detailed inspection to identify structural damage, smoke and soot impact, and areas vulnerable to secondary issues like water damage. This assessment allows us to create a customized repair plan tailored to your specific needs.

  2. 02

    Board Up & Tarping

To protect your property from weather elements, vandalism, or further damage, we provide board-up and tarping services. We secure broken windows, doors, and any exposed areas with durable materials. This step ensures your property remains safe and secure while the restoration process is underway.

  3. 03

    Water Removal & Drying

In many fire damage situations, water from firefighting efforts can cause additional harm. We use industrial pumps and dehumidifiers to remove excess water and dry out affected areas. This helps prevent mold growth, structural deterioration, and long-term water-related issues.

  4. 04

    Smoke & Soot Cleanup

We use specialized cleaning methods and equipment to remove smoke residue and soot from all affected surfaces, including walls, ceilings, floors, and personal belongings. Our team also eliminates odors, ensuring your property is free from the lingering smell of smoke. Thorough cleaning helps prevent further deterioration and health risks.

  5. 05

    Structural Repairs & Restoration

Once our team has your property secured and cleaned, structural rebuilds begin where needed. Our crew ensures all repairs are done with the highest level of craftsmanship.

All fire damage repair work follows IICRC S700 standards by IICRC-certified technicians.

What Our Customers Are Saying

Very thorough and helpful through the entire repair and remediation process! Willard Restoration worked alongside us with our insurance to complete repairs. They went above and beyond to make the process easier for us. Highly recommend them for anyone with water damage or remediation needs.

Ann F

Best in the business!! Willard's gave us an honest assessment of our damage with options for moving forward, worked with our insurance company, and got us back in our home as quickly as possible. Wouldn't recommend anyone else!

Player C

We cannot recommend this company highly enough. Anthony and his team were there for us from the moment we called with our problem to the moment the contractors left us after repairs had been made. He patiently answered our questions (as dumb as they might be); responded promptly to calls and text messages, paid close attention to detail and provided invaluable advice as we navigated the insurance process. It's as though he has the ability to bring "big name" resources to address your remediation needs with the service and familiarity of a local business. Dealing with a damaged home is stressful enough, dealing with insurance can make it worse... Willard Restoration made it all so much better. Add this company to your contacts, they should be your first call in the event you need help with your home.

Andrew M

Willard's Restoration is wonderful! They are always friendly, thorough and knowledgeable, prompt in their visits and honest in their assessments. They have greatly alleviated any anxiety we may have had in regards to the restoration process. They are a pleasure to work with!

Fire Damage Tips

Ensure Safety First

Do not re-enter the property until the fire department has confirmed that it’s safe. Even after the fire is out, structural damage, toxic fumes, or hot spots can still pose significant risks.

Limit Movement

Avoid excessive movement in the property to prevent spreading soot and ash to unaffected areas. Soot particles can easily settle into carpets, upholstery, and other surfaces, making cleanup more difficult.

Avoid Touching Anything

Do not attempt to clean or touch any surfaces affected by smoke or fire damage. Oils from your skin can set the soot into fabrics, walls, and wood, making it harder to clean later.

Turn Off HVAC Systems

If possible, turn off your heating and cooling systems. Circulating air can spread smoke and soot throughout the house, worsening the damage to areas that were initially unaffected.

Open Windows For Ventilation

If safe, open windows to allow fresh air to circulate. This can help reduce smoke odor and prevent additional soot from settling inside the home, but only do this if the weather conditions are favorable and it’s safe to do so.

Cover Upholstery and Carpets

Place clean towels, sheets, or plastic over upholstered furniture and carpets to protect them from further soot damage. This helps minimize the absorption of soot until professional cleaning can begin.

Take Photographs

Document the damage by taking photos of all affected areas. These will be valuable for insurance claims and for our team to assess the extent of the damage when we begin restoration.
