Storm Damage, Board-Up & Roof Tarping

Emergency Storm Response in the Upstate

Severe thunderstorms, high winds, hail and the remnants of tropical systems all reach the Upstate, and the damage they leave is usually a mix of structural openings and water intrusion. A roof opening left uncovered overnight can turn a repairable situation into ceilings, insulation and flooring that all have to come out. Willard's Restoration secures the property first with roof tarping and board-up, then extracts water, dries the structure and completes the repairs, with documentation your insurance company can use.

Storm Damage We Respond To

Wind and Roof Damage

Missing shingles, lifted flashing and damaged decking let rain into attics and ceilings. We tarp the roof to stop further water entry until permanent repairs are made.

Fallen Trees and Limbs

When a tree or limb comes through a roof or wall, we board up and tarp the opening, coordinate with a tree service on removal, then dry and repair the interior.

Wind-Driven Rain

Water forced in around windows and doors or through low areas collects in walls, floors and crawl spaces. We extract it and dry the structure before mold can start.

Our process

Our Storm Response Process

Storm work happens fast and in a specific order: secure the building, stop the water, then restore. Our process:

  1. 01

    Safety Assessment

We check for structural hazards and other dangers before work begins, and photograph the damage for your insurance claim.

  2. 02

    Roof Tarping and Board-Up

Openings in the roof are covered with heavy tarps secured to the structure, and broken windows and doors are boarded up to protect the property from weather and intruders.

  3. 03

    Water Extraction

Standing water is removed and wet materials are identified with moisture meters and thermal imaging.

  4. 04

    Drying and Monitoring

Air movers and dehumidifiers dry ceilings, walls and floors, with readings logged until the structure is back to dry standard.

  5. 05

    Repairs and Restoration

Damaged drywall, insulation, flooring and finishes are repaired and the property is put back together, with one point of contact throughout.

Storm water damage work follows IICRC S500 standards by IICRC-certified technicians.

Best in the business!! Willard's gave us an honest assessment of our damage with options for moving forward, worked with our insurance company, and got us back in our home as quickly as possible. Wouldn't recommend anyone else!

We cannot recommend this company highly enough. Anthony and his team were there for us from the moment we called with our problem to the moment the contractors left us after repairs had been made. He patiently answered our questions (as dumb as they might be); responded promptly to calls and text messages, paid close attention to detail and provided invaluable advice as we navigated the insurance process. It's as though he has the ability to bring "big name" resources to address your remediation needs with the service and familiarity of a local business. Dealing with a damaged home is stressful enough, dealing with insurance can make it worse... Willard Restoration made it all so much better. Add this company to your contacts, they should be your first call in the event you need help with your home.

Words cannot express how grateful I am to have found Willard's Restoration to help us urgently address flooding in our basement following recent heavy rains. I called numerous companies who either could not come to us for some time or were downright rude when I asked for at least a ballpark estimate for such services. Anthony and Cassie returned my calls promptly and offered to come out quickly. They helped me manage the situation with their own services and referrals. They were quite knowledgeable, professional, courteous, reliable. I have not needed this type of service before, but will not hesitate to call on them again and/or refer others to them who might need similar help. Thank you!!

When experiencing water damage and countless people at our home saying yes you have a problem and no we can't help. I was discouraged, and frustrated. Until Willard's arrived and took the time to look into the issues and identify teams that could help and how they could help. They have been there through the whole process. Anthony and Cassie are a great team and knowledgeable on what to expect regarding the process and insurance companies lingo. They have restored our home for sure! I highly recommend them for your needs. You are in good hands here and your home will thank you. Sincerely grateful.

Storm Damage FAQs

Should I wait for my insurance adjuster before tarping the roof?

No. Most policies expect you to take reasonable steps to prevent further damage, and tarping and board-up are typically part of that. Take photos first, and we document the damage before and after so the adjuster can see what happened.

How long can a roof tarp stay on?

A properly installed tarp is a temporary measure that protects the home until permanent roof repairs are made, typically weeks rather than months. We recommend scheduling the roof repair as soon as your claim allows.

Do you remove trees?

We secure the structure and handle the interior damage. Tree removal is done by a tree service, and we coordinate with them so the opening is covered as soon as the tree is off the roof.

What should I do right after storm damage?

Make sure everyone is safe and stay away from downed power lines. If water is coming in, move valuables out of the way and catch what you can. Take photos, then call us for tarping and board-up.

Can storm damage lead to mold?

Yes. Wet insulation, drywall and framing can start growing mold within a couple of days. Fast extraction and proper drying are the best prevention.

Do you work with my insurance company on storm claims?

Yes. We provide photos, moisture readings and an itemized scope, and we communicate with your adjuster during the claim.
